AYWC’s Programs

AYWC is one of the few U.S.-based organizations that actively develops and promotes exchange opportunities for youth workers and others in the human service field. AYWC supports international exchange experiences as beneficial to the professional and personal development of individual youth workers and policy makers while contributing substantially to the entire youth work profession.

Practical Training Exchange Program Goals:

To give foreign participants opportunities to receive paid on-the-job training and live in the US for a maximum of 18 months.

To provide an exchange of ideas, skills and practical experiences. Training is gained in three ways:

1. Daily supervision by American supervisors who have experience of working with at-risk children or people with learning difficulties.

2. Daily interaction with clients.

3. In-service training provided by the Training Site Agencies.

The program does offer a Certificate of Completion, which is awarded at the end of the 18-month placement. The experience will provide something substantial to add to your C.V. or resume.

Each participant must be committed to leaving the USA at the end of the program.
